Dear Parents and families,
Happy Cinco de Mayo! Please ask your child what s/he learned from the activities today.
I would like to remind you again that the Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week is next week. Should you please praise and recognize our staff for being committed and dedicated to teaching your child! Send thank you notes! Shower the teachers small tokens of appreciations! Send them homemade goodies!
Please plan on having a meeting with your child’s teachers before the IEP meeting to share current goals, areas of strengths, improvements needed and goals for next year.

Quiero recordarles nuevamente que la semana que entra es la Semana de Reconocimiento a los Maestros y al Personal. Por favor, reconozca y dele las gracias a nuestro personal por el ¡compromiso y dedicación que tienen a la enseñanza de su hijo! Envíe notas dándoles las gracias. Ofrézcales a los maestros pequeñas muestras de su agradecimiento. ¡Envíeles bocadillos hechos en casa!
Por favor, haga planes para reunirse con el maestro de su hijo antes de las juntas IEP para hablar sobre las metas actuales, las áreas fuertes, las áreas donde debe mejorar y las metas para el año que entra.

Dear Parents and families,
Students, teachers and teaching assistants participated in the Read A T-Shirt Day to communicate ideas, initiate dialogues, express humor, educate, and inspire.
As you and I try to find ways to support our students who care about diversity, equal opportunity and respect for differences here in school and at home, I found this wonderful, free tool that you can use with your children. Beyond the Golden Rule shares ideas and activities with parents about the challenges and rewards of raising children in today’s diverse world and offers guidance to reflect your own biases and how they affect your parenting. Teacher and staff appreciation week is from May 7 to 11, when our staff is recognized for being committed and dedicated to teaching your child as the number one priority here at CSD. It would be great if you and your child do something special for her/his teachers and teaching assistant during the week of May 7 to 11. Here are some ideas:
• Write or email personal thank you notes
• Send small tokens of appreciations, such as apples, bookmarks, homemade goodies or crafts.
• Decorate the classroom with posters and banners
• Serve them breakfast or lunch.

Estimados Padres de Familia,
Los alumnos, maestros y ayudantes de maestros participan en el Día de Leer una Camiseta para comunicar ideas, iniciar diálogos, expresar humor, educar e inspirar a otros.
Ya que Ud. y yo tratamos de encontrar la manera de apoyar a los alumnos para que sean sensibles a la diversidad cultural, la igualdad de oportunidades y el respeto por las diferencias tanto en la escuela como en el hogar, encontré una valiosa herramienta que es gratis y usted puede usar con su hijo. La publicación “Beyond the Golden Rule” les ofrece ideas y actividades a los padres sobre los desafíos y las recompensas de criar a un niño en un mundo tan diverso como el actual y les guía para reflejar sus propias experiencias y como estas le afectan para tomar decisiones como padre. La semana de reconocimiento al personal es del 7 al 11 de mayo, es para agradecerles por el compromiso de ser tan dedicados a la enseñanza de sus hijos como la cosa más importante en CSD. Sería muy bueno si usted y su hijo hicieran algo especial para sus maestros y para las ayudantes del 7 al 11 de mayo. Aquí hay algunas ideas:
• Escribirles una tarjetita o correo electrónico dándoles las gracias
• Darles regalitos pequeños como, una manzana, un separador de libros, cosas hechas en casa o artesanías.
• Decorar el salón de clase con cartelones y banderines
• Servirles un desayuno o almuerzo
Por favor planeen una reunión con el maestro de su hijo, antes de la junta IEP, para hablar sobre las metas actuales, las areas fuertes, las areas donde debe trabajar más y las metas para el año próximo.
