The academic faculty consists of 20 highly qualified and credentialed teachers. Over 83 percent of our staff hold Master's degrees. Our teachers have all completed a two-year certification in bilingual professional development through Gallaudet University, and they seek to improve their knowledge of their subject areas by attending state and national conferences. In addition, one of our teachers is currently serving as an ASL English Bilingual Professional Development Leader at Gallaudet University training teachers from schools across the country.
The high school program at CSD is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and the Conference of Educational Administrators for the Deaf (CEASD). During the 2006-2007 academic year, CSD was granted a full six-year term of accreditation and congratulated on the quality of instruction offered.
Teachers' comments
"I decided to teach at CSD because the philosophy closely matches that of my graduate school. My colleagues and I are on the same page with how to teach Deaf students in a bilingual (ASL/English) setting. The school is truly for the students and what's best for them."
Rachael Colvin, Algebra Teacher
"CSD has excellent teachers who enjoy exchanging many different teaching strategies and has provided me with many great tools to expand my teaching
profession to work with diverse students."
Susana Acosta, World History Teacher
"CSD takes pride in constantly trying to better itself. Looking back across my 14 years, I see a constant desire to keep improving, to never settle for what we have and say it is good enough."
Anna Woodbury, Calculus & Physics Teacher
